CREATIVITY AMIDST THE PANDEMIC

The Majorette – where creativity continues to flourish with our couples in mind.

I don’t think I’m alone when I say that my creative side went into hibernation in mid-March of 2020. Everyone in the event industry went into survival mode. Our creativity focused on ways to keep our couples and their families safe. Artful creativity took a backseat to figuring out how to best serve our guests in the safest possible way. Thank goodness, after the 4,842 days in 2020, we’ve finally arrived in 2021. It’s a new year full of new opportunities! We can now start coming out of hibernation to take steps towards returning to the creative side of events. It’s drives our passions and keeps our industry moving forward.

It is refreshing to know that while much of the world was in quarantine, the members of our local event industry have been busy at work. They continue to create beautiful spaces with our couples and clients in mind. The team that manages the Majorette has been stoking the fire of creativity all year long, and it shows!

MAJORETTE, THE BEAUTIFUL

A few of the eye catching details at the Majorette.

I had the pleasure of visiting the Majorette recently to see what the team has been creating during the pandemic. To my absolute delight, this venue has add so many new creative touches to experience. The space brims with an energy of romantic excitement.

The venue’s front window is graced by a delicate waterfall of colorful florals in the window. Inside the front door, you’re greeted by a vibrantly modern scene with a large built-in bar as well as bright and funky fuchsia chairs surrounded by complimenting pieces of eclectic furniture.

The Grand Staircase – the centerpiece of the venue.

The main space is open wide, and your eye is immediately drawn to the grand staircase. There is nothing that can match the elegant drama of that staircase. I’ve seen it decorated lavishly with florals and candles, and also left all on its own. The staircase is the statement piece of the room. There is no better way to be the center of attention on your wedding day than on that glorious staircase.

The main space of this venue is so open and versatile. It can easily host a wedding reception with a seated dinner, as well as a cocktail reception with themed stations. It’s also a perfect place for corporate meetings and happy hours. There are creative touches that give this space that “little something extra” that all guests will love.

NEW YEAR, NEW SPACES

The newly opened patio at the Majorette, set for a micro-wedding ceremony.

Where to start? First, they have a new patio space that is off the front of the main event space. There is a “ceiling” over the patio that is created with white umbrellas and lights strung across the top of the space. There are planters and a pergola that will be covered with beautiful blooms and delicate vines when spring arrives. It is an ideal place to have a micro-wedding ceremony that allows for social distancing. It also is a place where your guests could gather outside to enjoy the weather once it warms up. Let’s be honest – who doesn’t enjoy drinking on patios in St. Louis? It’s a fantastic new space that is sure to be a memorable place everyone will enjoy.

One of the new things at the Majorette that I absolutely love are in the bathrooms. Before you think I’m crazy, both of the bathrooms now include statement art that guests won’t stop talking about. The main wall in the women’s bathroom has a floor to ceiling mural of 1950’s style cartoons, all of which highlight the art of being a woman. The men’s bathroom has structured black and white mini murals, which reflect the unforgettable days of the past. They bring a unique and unforgettable flair to this venue.

Twister and Shuffleboard are only two of the fun things to do in the ground floor game room at the Majorette.

The game room on the lower level has been revamped with new games and artwork. This room screams, “Don’t leave yet, let’s keep playing!” With a bar built in on the game room floor, it’s the perfect place to host a happy hour or to keep the party going after a wedding reception. Whether you’re a champion dart player or you like to get down with a game of Twister – there’s something for everyone in the game room at Majorette.

I left the Majorette feeling my creative side reinvigorated. I’m looking forward to many opportunities to work with our couples and clients at the Majorette in 2021.

Cheers to a new year!
